At the age of 13, I found my father's old saxophone in the closet and asked if I could learn to play it. It didn't take me long to love this instrument, and joined the junior high concert band. I kept at it through high school and took it to college as well. Because I attended high school in southern Spain as a military brat, I was given the nickname "Spain" in college and soon everyone around campus began referring to me as such.
During my junior college year, a handful of guys and I formed an R&B-Funk Band and called ourselves Seduction. We quickly became very popular and found ourselves getting gigs throughout Mississippi, Memphis, Atlanta and different cities in Alabama and Florida. During those fun times, we were able to share the stage with artists such as DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince, Teddy Riley & Guy, The Whispers, Roger & Zapp, Michael Cooper, The Barkays, Johnny Taylor, Bobby Blue Bland, and others.
After a long hiatus from the career in music, and turning 55 years old, I'm now ready for the return of Spain to the music world. I've recently had the opportunity to work with a couple of up and coming artists on their debut albums. Since I've been back in the studio, I have also been bitten by the bug and have begun work on my first solo album which will consist of saxophone, vocals and rap. I'm very excited to finally share with you a taste of what I've been holding on to for quite some time.
